“If you can breathe you can do Yoga”

-TKV Desikachar

The practice

HaTha Yoga

The heart and breath-centred practice brought forth from the ancient traditions by Sri Krishnamacharya.

The breath is the central focus of the practice.

Yoga is not a method to get anywhere, it is your participation in life as it actually is. It is the practice of intimacy with your breath, body and life.

Asana (Body postures) are the whole body’s reverence to life.

About Horse Friendship Workshop

Horses mirror our energy. They present an opportunity to become aware of our habitual patterns of thought, emotion and behaviour, which impact our interactions with others. We will experience and establish mutual respect, trust, intimacy, and physical connection with them.

Through establishing a relationship of intimacy and trust with horses we can develop this capacity for connection with ourselves and others.

About Being with Difficult Emotions

Emotions are all good information arising from the body.

Some of them are challenging to feel so we tend to ignore them, dismiss them, or bottle them up. When left unattended, they start expressing themselves in whatever way they can. This could look like symptoms of anxiety and depression, consumption of drugs and alcohol, or lashing out at others when it all becomes unbearable.

In this workshop, we learn to be with our challenging emotions, feel them, allow them in, care for them, listen to them, and discover what they are trying to let us know.

About Cacao Ceremony

This about:

  • Celebrating the sacredness of life which is only possible through the union of opposites.

  • Gratitude to Mother Earth for her nourishment. Ka Ka Wa is considered the blood of the earth.

  • Setting intentions with our body-heart.

ABOUT MARIANA

“I love to share the practices that have been the most helpful for me to feel and understand my body; to tune into my life and feel certain about what I am, where I am going and why.

These practices were invaluable when I felt lost and are grounding and soothing any time I feel overtaken by strong sensations and emotions.

I teach people the ancient principles of breathing deeply so they can experience the peace that is inherent to their life and their body. I love to see how the breath guides the busy and distracted mind into the body, then the mind can listen to and translate what the heart is communicating.

I am thankful to my teacher Mark Whitwell and his teachers Desikachar and Sri Krishnamacahrya for sharing the ancient wisdom practice of Yoga as it was during the Tantric Period.”

More information

  • The practice could be described as breath-centred tantra hatha yoga.

The practice of Yoga weaves together asana (body postures), pranayama (breathwork), mantras (chants), mudras (hand postures), and visualisations. During or after these, meditation may arise as a gift. Meditation does not imply a struggle with the mind or the body.

Fitness and flexibility are only a consequence of this spiritual practice, not the purpose of it.

    HaTha yoga.

Ha means sun and Tha means moon. HaTha is therefore the union of opposites that arise and return to the heart. Above-below, left-right, front-back, within-without, strength-receptivity, inhale-exhale, sun-moon, masculine-feminine. HaTha yoga is the participation and union of these opposites.

Tantric philosophy is based on the principles of non-duality, meaning that in life there is no separation. Tantra recognises that we are an inseparable part of the universe. Therefore, tantra-based yoga focuses on using the body as a temple to worship the all-encompassing oneness of life as sacred.

    Pranayama (breathwork)

The breath is the bridge that links body and mind. Deep, natural, and attentive breathing increases clarity of mind and this is why pranayama is the preparation for meditation

    Meditation

Discover meditation as the gift that arises seamlessly through asana (body postures) & pranayama (breathwork)
